We will be tapping into memory and imagination to create stories from our lives. No writing experience is necessary. Materials will be provided, but bring your favorite personal journal if you like.

Research has found that cancer patients that have a regular yoga practice experience a reduction in stress along with seeing an improvement in their quality of life, appetite, and pain reduction.   Yoga has also been found to help with insomnia caused by the combination of physical and mental stress that makes sleep difficult.  Some research has found yoga to be able to help improve sleep quality, efficiency, and duration.  This class is an opportunity to explore some of these practices that may be beneficial in these areas. 

All levels are welcome.

Sumi-e goes beyond the simple painting technique.   Sumi-e painting is a calming art form that invites your thoughts to fade away until only a white sheet of paper remains in your mind.  Using mindfulness and imagery, the subject to be painted appears in the mind and then is transferred through the use of the Sumi-e brush. This is an uncomplicated art form and allows the artist to create freely, unlike a landscape or still life.
