Today’s Open Studio session is an opportunity to visit with book artist and letterpress printer Mary Beth Boone live from her home studio. She will share with us some of her printed patterned pages that explore a variety of pattern networks as well as more abstract approaches exploring the surface and space of a page. She will discuss and demonstrate various simple printmaking techniques which can be completed using found objects, stamps carved from vegetables, as well as stamps from carved linoleum blocks and erasers. Her instruction will enable viewers to pursue their own printing at home with little expense.
She will also be sharing several simple bookbinding techniques, focusing on pamphlets. Pamphlets can be sewn and folded into simple elegant bindings to use for journaling, scrapbooks, and notebooks. These make great gifts. Registration is requested.
